13:15 CHELTENHAM

A competitive novices’ chase to kick start things where I’m going with KILDISART  to continue his impressive start over fences.

The seven-year-old put in some decent performances over hurdles but Ben Pauling has really upped the standard since sending him chasing.

A terrific effort when runner-up to Wenyerreadyfreddie at Ascot in November was bettered by a hard-fought victory over Activial at the tail end of the year.

His jumping has been imposing thus far and he's proven over 2m 4f, so I think he’s a good bet to start the day.

We have two outsiders for the Gold Cup in contention next with Frodon taking on ELEGANT ESCAPE , where I think the latter will just about come out on top.

Colin Tizzard’s seven-year-old has six wins, four seconds and two thirds from 16 runs, with the highlights being a strong third behind Presenting Percy in last year’s RSA Chase, a runner-up spot in the Ladbrokes Trophy and then most recently a Welsh Grand National victory.

Tom O’Brien has won his last three rides on board and I think he’ll continue that run on Saturday.

15:15 DONCASTER

Moving over to Doncaster now for a competitive handicap chase wjere I think top weight WARRIORS TALE will take all the beating.

The 10-year-old seems to excel in these big fields and put in a decent showing before being pulled up two out in the Grand National.

A tidy winner of the Betway Grand Sefton at Aintree in December when carrying the same weight of 11-12 reads as strong form and, after being beaten in this race by a head last year, I think he’ll go one better this time.

15:35 CHELTENHAM

The Cleeve Hurdle is one of the most open races I’ve seen this season with a decent case to be made for most of the field.

PAISLEY PARK  has done nothing but impress me this season so I think I’m going to stick with him.

He's three from three so far with a really gutsy performance at Haydock and then a big Grade 1 triumph in the JLT Hurdle at Ascot – the first of Aidan Coleman’s career.

That was an impressive field containing Agrapart, Call Me Lord and Top Notch, and I think he’ll go well once again.

If you want an each-way bet, I think LIL ROCKERFELLER  is a massive price.

It didn’t quite work out for Neil King’s eight-year-old over fences but he’s back over hurdles on Saturday and has Bryony Frost in the saddle for the first time.

A course-and-distance win and a second in the 2016 Stayers’ Hurdle reads nicely on his CV and, if he goes well here, he could be targeting that same race come March.
