15:10 Epsom – Bell Rock (each-way) 4/1

I’ve long been a fan of Bell Rock, who I believe will be able to win this contest on his first run out of handicaps for a few years. He’s always shown plenty of promise, but hasn’t had the greatest luck with the way his seasons have panned out.

He won on his first start this season and is now rated 109, so he has to go for this type of race. He’s more than up to it and should go close under Oisin Murphy. His trainer, Andrew Balding has been in great form this season, too.

17:15 Epsom – Group One Power (win) 3/1

Betway ambassador Andrew Balding has stated in his Betway Insider column that he has a good team going to Epsom and I think Group One Power is another of his who will go very close. Last season didn’t go quite right for him, although he did finish a very good fourth at Royal Ascot.

He was gelded in the winter and that seems to have been the making of him. He won the Great Met over course and distance in the spring and was a good second on soft ground at Ascot last time too. This race doesn’t look as competitive, so I think he’ll take all the beating.

17:50 Epsom – Tinto (each-way) 16/1

Tinto must be one of those horses that people hate backing as he rarely wins and often has a hard luck story. They do have their day in the sun and this could be his.

He’s been running in good races in winter and now finds himself very well handicapped off a mark of 95, following a series of defeats.

A fast 6f like this will suit him and I think he’ll like Epsom’s undulating track as he’s gone well at Bath, Brighton and Goodwood in the past.

4 TO WIN

14:00 Epsom – King Frankel 9/4

Steadily improving and finished second in a good race last time. Should have more to come.

14:35 Epsom – Posted 5/1

Joint-highest rated in the race, who will have improved for her first run of the season.

15:45 Epsom – Mokaatil 28/1

Has run well in this race before and looks nicely handicapped now. He’s drawn well enough too.

16:30 Epsom – Mac Swiney 9/2

Very good winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas and looks as though this trip will suit him, too.
