15:35 Newbury  Lope Y Fernandez (each-way)

While the odds-on favourite Palace Pier is going to be very tough to beat, his dominance in this division mean an each-way play is appealing and I can’t resist keeping Lope Y Fernandez on side.

He was highly tried last season over a variety of trips but looked back to his best over a mile last time out and I think that is going to be his trip this season. He’s got an explosive turn of foot and will be played late by Ryan Moore. At the prices, I think he’s a solid each way bet.

19:05 Doncaster – Mere Green (each-way)

Mere Green was well beaten on her only start at this trip, but last term she did strike me as a horse who may need this distance.

She would have grown and strengthened over the winter and that may help her see this trip out now. She was highly tried last term and ran with plenty of credit on a number of occasions.

She is running off a career low mark of 78 and if she’s fit enough, could play a major part. Positive market support would be a big indicator.

4 TO WIN

15:00 Newbury – Bay Bridge

He quickened up well to win at Newcastle last time. He’s got plenty of potential and will keep improving.

15:15 Newmarket – Jumby

Unlucky in-running last time out but kept on well to the line. Runs off the same mark and should make amends.

15:50 Newmarket – Pistoletto

Had some very good two-year-old form and a return to turf could spark a revival.

17:00 Newmarket – Minhaaj

Keenness cost him last time out but he should settle better with that run under his belt. The likely fast pace will suit him.
