13:50 NEWMARKET

Aidan and Donnacha O’Brien had the winner in the opener at Newmarket on Friday and I think they’ll do so again with SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE  .

The colt has had some decent performances in Ireland, with a second at Leopardstown followed by an impressive win at Curragh in September, where he beat stablemate Norway.

He also finished second to Mohawk at 20/1 in his last run here at Newmarket, so I think that puts him in a great position to go one better.

Up next, I’m going to take on Andre Farbe’s favourite with KADAR  .

Trained by Karl Burke, the two-year-old looked mightilyy impressive on debut at Haydock over this distance, beating odds-on favourite Waldstern.

William Buick is in scintillating form at the moment, and his booking only enhances his chances.

14:40 YORK

We'll go across to York for the Rockingham Stakes and, in a tough field, I’ve decided to go with another from Burke’s yard in CONSTANT  .

After a disappointing debut, he’s bounced back impressively, winning at Yarmouth at 20/1 before running well to finish second behind Frankel filly East at Hamilton in late September.

I was there when East won emphatically at Saint-Cloud last week, so I think that counts as good form for this colt, making this look a very nice price.

15:00 NEWMARKET

Now for the big Group 1 of the day, where I cannot see anyone getting close to TOO DARN HOT  .

Two emphatic wins at Sandown - including the Solaria Stakes, where he beat Chesham winner Arthur Kitt by four lengths - were followed up by an easy victory in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in the St Leger meeting.

The Dubawi colt has ridiculous natural speed, and I cannot his unbeaten run ending here.

15:40 NEWMARKET

The Cesarewitch is my favourite handicap of the year and, to mark the big occasion, we’re paying a massive seven places.

With that in mind, I have two-big priced fancies, the first of which is Alan King’s COEUR DE LION  .

He’s enjoyed success both on flat and jumps, with two wins and two places over hurdles and two wins and seven places from 15 on the flat.

He won a Betway-sponsored handicap at Southwell in February, and also ran well when third behind favourite Stratum in the JLT Cup in July.

King has done well in this race over the past few years with Grumeti winning at 50/1 in 2015 and then having another 50/1 shot, First Mohican, finish second the year after that, so I’m optimistic of at least another big place here.

The other one I like is CLIFFS OF DOVER for Paul Nicholls and his daughter Megan.

He's another versatile five-year-old with highlights on his CV including the Betway Stayers’ handicap in July and Grade 2 glory in the Summit Juvenile Hurdle in December 2016.

The distance of 2m 2f is a slight concern, but he’s really well-handicapped at 8-6 and has Megan’s 5lb claim on board.
