14.45 – Betway Kingwell Hurdle (Wincanton)

We have a quality Grade 2 to kick us off first and I’m going for CH’TIBELLO  to go one better than last year.

The seven-year-old has had a decent career and perhaps deserves more than his two wins from 11 races.

He’s been a runner-up on four occasions to the likes of Yanworth, Altior and, most recently, The New One when he looked set for victory in the Champion Hurdle Trial.

His performance that day leaves me with confidence and, after finishing a length behind Yanworth here 12 months ago, I think he can go one better Saturday.

15.00 – Handicap Hurdle (Ascot)

Moving over to Ascot now and I like the chances of Ben Pauling’s KILDISART  .

A course-and-distance win back in November was particularly impressive, though that remains his only win after finishing second in his three other races.

He looked good on soft ground at Kempton on Boxing Day but just weakened towards the end.

Hopefully conditions will suit him better on Saturday and he can make it two from two on this course.

15.15 – Grand National Trial Handicap Chase (Haydock)

I really like the chances of Colin Tizzard’s THE DUTCHMAN here, who destroyed the field by 13 lengths on his most recent appearance in the Peter Marsh.

That is even more impressive when you consider that testing conditions meant only five out of the field of 13 even managed to finish the race.

He’s well handicapped at 10-13, though there may be some questions of his stamina over 3m 4f.

Danny Cook hasn’t rode him since he was trained by Sandy Thomson, but I fancy him to continue his good record on board (212) this weekend.

15.35 – Ascot Chase (Ascot)

For the final tip of the day I’m going for WAITING PATIENTLY  to end Cue Card's unbeaten record at Ascot.

I’m a huge fan of this seven-year-old, who comes into the race having won six in a row.

He’s answered every question emphatically and has beaten some really good horses during that winning run, including Politologue, Art Mauresque, God’s Own and Smad Place.

It would be a huge result if he can get the win here and gift Ruth Jefferson a momentous Grade One just a fortnight after her dad’s funeral.
