Saturday racing tips: Best bets for Haydock, Ascot and Kempton

Our tipster talks you through his top tips for the weekend meetings, with a boosted win double and four Lucky 15 selections.

2.05 – September Stakes (Kempton)

Sir Michael Stoute had the winner here last year with Arab Spring and I think he could be set for another with MIDTERM.

The four-year-old Galileo foal has had a steady start with three wins from nine and had a notable runner-up in the Qatar Prix Niel at Chantilly last September.

He really flopped in the Betway Fred Archer at Newmarket but bounced back well to win at Epsom last month, finishing 2½ lengths clear of Mount Logan.

Ted Durcan rode the colt to victory on debut but has not been on board since.

The step up in distance to 1m 4f is is a minor concern but I think he’s still a good bet at .

2.25 – Sprint Cup (Haydock)

Favourite Harry Angel is yet to finish outside the top two and was a course and distance winner by 4½ lengths here in May, but is untested on soft ground.

With more rain expected, I’m not sure he’ll definitely run and for that reason I’m going to swerve away.

The soft ground will suit Brando better who was very impressive in similar conditions at Deauville, but I'm drawn to a different horse here.

I tipped THE TIN MAN in this race last year when he fell just short to Quiet Reflection, but I think he can go one better on Saturday.

He’s in great shape this season having won the Diamond Jubilee with a great ride from Tom Queally, while his memorable run at Champions Day last year showed the speed the five-year-old possesses.

Despite missing the start last year, he still finished second on soft ground so I’m more than happy he can cope on Saturday.

He looks a tasty price at .

2.45 – Cunard Handicap (Ascot)

With 20 runners and four places on offer, there’s definitely some each-way value to sniff out here.

The one that I like is LUALIWA who has been in fantastic form since the turn of the year (132-112).

The three-year-old is a proven winner over 7f and has proved himself on good/firm, good/soft and soft ground.

Apprentice jockey David Egan brings his 3lbs claim on board and is well-handicapped at 8-6.

He looks a nice each-way chance at .

3.15 – London Mile Handicap (Kempton)

Another big handicap and I can’t seem to get away from COMMODITY here.

Also trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the four-year-old is a course and distance winner back in May and comes into the race in great form (111-43).

It’s another ride for Ted Durcan who has been in decent form himself lately having won three of his last five rides, including one on this course last Wednesday.

Really well-handicapped at 8-13, I think he’s an each-way shout at .

3.35 – The Superior Mile Stakes (Haydock)

This is a race filled with class including the likes of Morando , Mitchum Swagger ,Flaming Spear and Sovereign Debt .

However, the one I’m going to go for here is Godolphin’s BENBATL.

The three-year-old has had a decent first season with two wins, one second and one third.

An assertive win at Royal Ascot in the Hampton Court Stakes has definitely been the colt’s highlight but a notable runner-up to the late Permian in the Dante Stakes is also worth praising.

Willy Carson brings his vast experience on board which can only strengthen his chances, so I think looks a decent bet.
