14:00 CHELTENHAM

We begin with the opener at Cheltenham and in a very competitive handicap chase, I’m going to take a punt on ROCKY’S TREASURE  .

The eight-year-old was superb this time last year, ending 2018 with (11121) with that runner-up to Santini.

He couldn’t replicate that early form, but did finish the season a second on the course albeit 13 lengths behind the winner.

I do think he can cope with the long trip and looks a nice each-way bet.

Next up is a Class 2 over hurdles and I like the look of Peter Fahey’s SOVIET PIMPERNEL  .

The four-year-old has made a solid start to his career (2311) and won nicely at Gowran Park at the start of the month on his seasonal debut.

His jumping is fluent, proven over 2m and has cruicial weight on his side against Torpillo and Quel Destin.

I think he’s the one to beat.

This is another very tough race to call, but I think Gary Moore’s KNOCKNANUSS   can bounce back to winning ways with this drop in class.

He was another who finished 2018 with two impressive wins and put up a strong fight when behind Master Dino at Plumpton in January.

His last three outings have all been in Grade 1 action and has experience here from last year’s Arkle.

I’m a huge fan of Jamie Moore and if he can get him at front and into a nice rhythm, he’s a nice each-way bet.

15:25 DONCASTER

We finish with the final Group 1 of the flat season, and despite favourites’ good record in this race, I’m going to take a chance with KAMEKO  .

Andrew Balding’s two-year-old has had a decent season with a solid win on debut and then two seconds at Sandown and Newmarket.

He was beaten by a nose by Positive in the Betway Solario Stakes and Positive also finished runner-up to Pinatubo so that is a nice form boost.

It would be a fitting end to the season if champion jockey Oisin Murphy could take a final Group 1.
