With £10,000 up for grabs on Sunday, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips for Doncaster and Goodwood to get you started.

14:00 DONCASTER

The Betway Handicap is the shoulder race on a good card at Doncaster and has attracted a field of 12.

I’m confident that it’ll take something very good to beat Camacho Chief, who looks to have conditions to suit. Trained by Michael Dods, the five-year-old made his seasonal debut at Newcastle last week and shaped with promise to finish a fine fourth over six furlongs.

He’s been dropped one pound for that run and is now just one pound higher than his last winning mark, which was at Doncaster over five furlongs last June.

He loves soft ground and the rain seems likely to fall heavily over Doncaster so he should be right at home dropped back to five furlongs.

14:20 GOODWOOD

The Cathedral Stakes is one of the feature races on the card at Goodwood. It is run over six furlongs on the Sussex downs course.

Open Wide ran well behind stablemate Tinto at Newmarket last week but showed plenty of promise on his first run of the season. He’s been dropped two pounds in the handicap for that run, which would have put him spot on for this assignment.

He finished second at Goodwood in the Stewards’ Cup off a mark of 95 last summer and that race was much stronger than this one. Pat Dobbs, who won on this horse at Windsor last year, gets back in the saddle.

15:10 DONCASTER

The Heed Your Hunch at Betway Handicap is over 1m2f and Mark Johnston’s Sky Defender is going to be tough to beat following a very good second at Newmarket last weekend.

His stablemate Marie’s Diamond went from the front and wasn’t for catching in that one, but Sky Defender was second throughout in a much more competitive race than this one.

Ridden by Franny Norton, he’ll have to shoulder topweight, but is a typical Johnston horse and will be hardy and tough to get past if he is given an easy lead.

15:25 GOODWOOD

There are only four runners declared for this 1m4f handicap and a case could be made for each of them.

I feel strongest about Glenties, who ran well over 1m2f at Haydock last Sunday. He is from the Mark Johnston yard, which everyone knows is banging in the winners left, right and centre since racing restarted.

He stayed on steadily last week and was an obvious eye-catcher. He was doing his best work late on and it’s no surprise to see him stepped up in trip here.

I image his connections have a plan to get him back to Goodwood in the summer, so I do expect him to win here and win a few times again to go up in the handicap and get in to the 1m6f handicap at Goodwood in July.

Johnson has won that race numerous times.
