14:00 SANDOWN

The Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap is for horses rated 0-100 over 5f.

While it often pays to side with sprinters in form, it could be worth backing STONE OF DESTINY , who has slipped to a very attractive mark.

He is capable of mixing it between five and six furlongs, but I think Sandown’s fast yet stiff 5f will suit this horse very well.

It should be noted that he was once rated 105 and was fourth in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup as a three-year-old so, on all natural ability, he’s by far the most talented in this field.

His recent form is better than the bare form figure would suggest, and a reproduction of either of his first two starts this season would see him be competitive for his trainer, Betway ambassador Andrew Balding.

14:30 SANDOWN

The Betway Handicap was won last year by HYANNA , who must have a great chance again if she’s in the same form as last time out, when she was narrowly beaten at Ascot.

Her trainer, Eve Johnson Houghton, has been in great form of late and her rider, Georgia Dobie, is good value for her 5lb claim.

Good Birthday  has been slightly disappointing this season despite not being far away in his races. I think he’ll be suited by Sandown’s uphill finish and, if he’s still there two furlongs out, then I think he’ll take some beating.

15:20 NAAS

The Stanerra Stakes is a Group 3 for fillies and mares over 1m 6f.

Only two horses in the field have won over this trip, but I don’t think that will inconvenience PASSION , who has shaped like a stayer over her last few runs.

She was campaigned as one of the better three-year-old fillies at Ballydoyle and hasn’t run a bad race all season. She was third in the Irish Oaks and, if she reproduces that form and stays this extra two furlongs, she will be tough to beat.

16:20 CARTMEL

The last leg is a 2m 6f Handicap Hurdle at Cartmel.

The Cumbrian racecourse is very tight where you’re always turning, so it suits front-running horses who stay well.

Although he has top weight to shoulder, THE BLACK SQUIRREL  bolted up over course and distance a couple of weeks ago and is clearly the best horse in this race.

He’s got to give plenty of weight away, but he’s miles clear of some of these on ratings and should just be too good.
