This time last year, IMPRESSOR  had not long bolted up in a novice race at Salisbury and was being spoken of very highly.

He then ran in the Mill Reef, where the ground was too fast, before finishing third in the Horris Hill on heavy ground.

He wants cut in the ground and has slipped to an attractive mark of 93, so he could go very well under Martin Dwyer now that the rain has come.

The Perth Gold Cup is a handicap chase over 3m and is often won by a southern raider.

I do, however, think the winner will be more locally-trained this year, namely the lightly-raced IMADA  for Nicky Richards and champion jockey, Brian Hughes.

He clearly hasn’t been easy to train but on his first try at 3m he bolted up by 15 lengths at the end of June.

He won’t want the ground to go soft, but Scotland seems set for the best of the weather this weekend, so he could be in luck.

The Supreme Stakes is a Group 3 race over 7f and you’d think that HAPPY POWER  would relish the track, the trip and the ground.

He’s a high-class horse who has been running at a good level and was an easy winner of a conditions race at Salisbury last time out.

He should take all of the beating under Silvestre De Sousa.

The last leg is a 2m4f handicap chase for horses rated 0-105.

BEAUTIFUL BEN  has been in good form of late and his fourth-placed finish over course and distance, when the ground was softer than ideal for him, is as good as any recent form.

He was a good winner over 2m here last year and should go well for his in-form trainer, Laura Morgan.
