It's another busy day of racing action across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday with five meetings taking place.

Dundalk is first off and there are further afternoon cards from Nottingham and Lingfield before evening meets at Newcastle and Chelmsford on a rare summer's day where all-weather action dominates – with 25 of the 35 races taking place on synthetic surfaces.

We've got a trio of fancies to consider, including one in the €30,000 feature race at Dundalk for trainer John McConnell.

Selections

Higher Kingdom @ (16:40, Dundalk)

Princess Chizara @   (15:20, Lingfield)

Alnilam @   (16:00, Nottingham)

McConnell's charge should relish Dundalk return

A relatively rare meeting for Dundalk at this time of year is set to be headlined by the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Red God' Handicap, with €30,000 on offer to the winner in the 1m2½f event at the County Louth venue.

Typically for Dundalk, it has attracted a full field of entries and looks to be ultra-competitive on paper.

Golden Twilight could be a popular pick as he bids to win for the fifth time over course and distance and with champion jockey Colin Keane on board. But with 9st 11lb the 97-rated Dawn Approach gelding has plenty of weight and a wide draw to contend with.

The draw hasn't been kind either to John McConnell's HIGHER KINGDOM in stall 14 but he's capable of breaking alertly and regular pilot Siobhan Rutledge is adept at getting a fast start.

Also a former C&D winner, Higher Kingdom has run well in recent turf starts at the Curragh and Galway from his current mark of 83 and a return to this venue should suit him well. The gelded son of Kingman could represent some value in this feature contest, despite his wide berth.

Princess can make most of good opening

The British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes is one of three races taking place on the Polytrack at Lingfield to open their card before the focus moves across to the turf, and it is a fascinating sprint over five furlongs in which PRINCESS CHIZARA can prove a tough nut to crack.

Conrad Allen's filly made a winning start at Brighton in June over five and a half furlongs on quick ground, getting away in front and making all to repel the odds-on favourite in impressive fashion.

After that she went to Royal Ascot and ran well for a long way in the Queen Mary before fading, although she was in front of today's rival Hot Front.

Her only start since came on heavy ground at Glorious Goodwood in a valuable Conditions race where she was facing a stiff challenge based on ratings, so this ease in grade should come as a welcome relief.

Connor Planas takes off a handy 3lb in the saddle and with just six rivals to contend with, Princess Chizara could once more prove tough to reel in if she can break well and grab this race by the scruff of the neck.

Alnilam can halt Golden Shot

After careering away to win an apprentice race at Ffos Las a week ago by some 27 lengths, the claims of Golden Shot will be strong in the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Colwick Cup, the feature at Nottingham on Tuesday afternoon.

Sir Mark Prescott's charge now has figures of 121 this season and, from just 5lb higher, is a threat to all. However, a literal reading of that success in Wales could be dangerous.

He now meets a rival with potential to upset him in ALNILAM, who needed every yard of the 1m6f journey at Yarmouth last time when scoring in a competitive Racing League event as he followed up previous success at Sandown.

Trainer Milton Harris now stretches him out to this two-mile trip for the first time and he could have plenty more to offer from a 4lb higher mark.
