There are National Hunt meetings at Worcester and Newton Abbot in the UK on Tuesday, plus a Flat card at Roscommon in Ireland. We have bets at each one, including in the valuable feature at Worcester.
JACK THE FARMER @ SP (Newton Abbot 5.00)
GO ON CHEZ @ SP (Worcester 6.00)
NOSTRA CASA @ SP (Roscommon 8.15)
Chez to go best
The feature race of the day is the £25,000 Peter Dawson Forget-Me-Not Handicap chase over just short of 3 miles at Worcester and it is a competitive affair. The Irish-trained Peregrine Run won this last year off a mark of 138 and also won at Chepstow last October off his current mark of 147. While he has been below that form in three runs since, he is still respected. Courtland has been in cracking form and was second to the much-improved Born Famous in the Summer Plate last time out, but the step-up in trip is a question for him. Brief Times has won his last two starts, both over a similar trip to this and is another to consider strongly, but one who was second to him at Southwell last month, GO ON CHEZ (SP), looks the bet. Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero's 7yo gelding is 9lb better off with that rival for a half-length beating and should have improved from that first run since May. He has a 50% strike-rate over fences and can take this, with Toby Wynne's 5lb claim a help too.
Jack The Farmer to reap reward
In the marathon 3mile 2f William Hill Leading Racecourse Bookmaker Handicap Hurdle at Newton Abbot, JACK THE FARMER (SP) looks a decent bet under David Noonan. He has been very consistent since switching to Nigel Hawke's yard this year and deservedly got off the mark at Worcester. Raised 8lb for that, he was hampered more than once when second over course and distance last time, finishing only 2 lengths behind an in-form rival. He is just 1lb higher in the weights here and can get the better of Nicky Henderson's Lelantos and Debra Hamer's Rubys Reward.
Nostra as to land emotional win
The Sean Cleary Memorial Handicap over 1mile 4f is named after the jockey who was killed in a fall at Galway in 2003 and his brother Rory can land an emotional win on NOSTRA CASA (SP), trained locally by Paul Flynn. This Dubawi gelding came back from a two-year absence to win at Sligo on testing ground in April and has run fine races in defeat at Ballinrobe and the Curragh since on good ground. The ground is likely to be soft, with showers forecast and that will suit him ideally. Though this trip is probably on the sharp side for him, the 'cut' in the ground should ensure his stamina kicks in late on. Recent winner L'Un Deux Trois trained by Oliver McKiernan and Secret Rock trained by Tony Martin are his main challengers.
