The first race of the Ebor Festival is a tough one to call, but the one to have caught my eye at a big price is SOLDIER’S MINUTE .

He put in some decent performances on the All-Weather towards the end of the year and finished a decent third last time out here behind Musicka.

He has plenty of experience on this course so I’m hoping he can get in among the places.

There is a great deal of hype around DARAIN   and I think he’ll come out on top in this Group 2.

He has won two races from two, dominant displays at Newbury and Newmarket, and I think he is going to be very tough to beat here.

Keep your eyes on BERKSHIRE ROCCO   for Andrew Balding at a bigger price, though.

He has finished runner-up to English King, a one-time Derby favourite, and Santiago, who won the Irish Derby.

That’s some very strong form and I expect him to outrun his odds.

It is the first Group 1 of the week next, the Juddmonte International, and I think MAGICAL   is being overlooked here.

The mare is an absolute superstar, with 11 wins from 18, and has also finished runner-up behind Enable on three occasions.

She’s won three Group 1s on the bounce since her disappointing run in the Arc and I think she looks better than ever.

TOUSSAROK   was a smart winner on debut and wasn’t too far behind Darvel last time out at Ayr.

In those famous John Dance colours, and considering Mark Johnston’s incredible record with two-year-olds, I think this is a nice each-way bet to close the day.
