With £10,000 up for grabs on day 1 at the York Ebor Festival, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips.

13:45 YORK

The opening leg of 4 To Win is a 22-runner dash over 5½f. You could make a strong case for plenty of these sprinters, who will have been campaigned with this race in mind.

Jawwaal  has been very well-backed all week and comes into this in red-hot form having won two from two this season in the style of an improved horse. His trainer, Michael Dods, is one to keep on the right side of at this meeting, too.

I’m not too sure how the draw is going to fare since I’ve seen some win from high draws and others win from low draws in sprint races at York.

Justanotherbottle  is drawn in stall one, but is a forward-going horse who breaks from the stalls very well, so it often doesn’t matter what side he is drawn on since his early pace can help his jockey get into a good position from the off.

He’s got plenty of good form and ran well last time out when finishing third at Ayr. It looks as though he has been targeted at this race, too.

15:45 YORK

The second leg is a handicap over an extended 2m and it is fiercely competitive.

Monsieur Lambrays  is an out-and-out stayer who has won four from his last six starts and keeps on improving with each run. He was a slow learner but showed promise as a younger horse, and the patience shown in him has been rewarded as he’s now rated 92.

His trainer, Tom Clover, remains in great form since the resumption of racing.

Alan King has been winning valuable prizes on the Flat for some time now and, although he was once known as a National Hunt trainer, he’s definitely now regarded as a dual-purpose trainer.

His runner, Just In Time , is having his second start back from a long lay-off and could also be of strong interest. He was progressive a couple of years ago and clearly has ability.

He ran well at Newbury on his first start for nearly two years last month. He’s been dropped 1lb for that and must have a great each-way chance if he’s in the same form.

16:20 YORK

William Haggas often has plenty of winners at the Ebor festival and this year should be no different.

He saddles Dancin Inthestreet  in the 5f Fillies’ Sprint Handicap. She was on the go earlier in the season but has been freshened up since her last start when she was disappointing at Newmarket.

She remains potentially well-treated off a mark of 87 and should go close if she’s back in good form.

Mighty Spirit  has been running well in much more competitive races than this and has found herself on a very attractive mark of 83, having started the season on 90. She won’t mind any cut in the ground.

16:50 YORK

The last leg is a Nursery Handicap over 6f. Churchill Bay  is likely to feature towards the head of the market for trainer Clive Cox off the back of a narrow defeat in a hot-looking contest at Ascot last time out.

He was very green on his debut but learned as the race progressed and you could see the improvement in his second start. I expect him to improve again and he could have too much class for this field.

As with many nursery races, there are plenty of unknowns in the field, and I expect many of them to improve for their first step into this company.

Soldier Lions  has finished second on both of his career starts to date and could certainly appreciate this kind of race. He was beaten at odds-on last time out, but that was among a small field where many obviously thought that he was capable of more.
