13:45 YORK
The opening leg of 4 To Win is a handicap over 1m 4f.
Zabeel Champion has improved with each of his starts this season and, after four runs this term, has gone up 14lb in the handicap.
He was a staying-on second at Goodwood behind Junkanoo last time out and this step up in trip looks as though it will be in his favour. Ryan Moore takes the ride for trainer Mark Johnston.
14:15 YORK
The Lonsdale Cup is a Group 2 over 2m which has been won the past two years by Stradivarius.
The champion stayer has stayed at home this year, which has opened up the race, with his stablemate, Enbihaar , having her first crack at this trip. She is a proper filly who has won over 1m 6f on a number of occasions, and she’ll appreciate it the more the ground dries out.
There are a few others in this race who have something to prove, but this mare is consistent and always gives her best.
16:15 YORK
The Fillies’ Handicap looks very competitive, but I think Waliyak is going to take all the beating for the team of Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni.
She has finished second on both of her starts this term, but they have come in competitive races at both Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.
She was beaten last time by Chamade , who reopposes, but Waliyak is on more favourable terms today and conditions should suit.
16:50 YORK
The last race of the day is one of the most competitive where there are plenty in with chances.
Finest Sound looked like a Group horse on his first start this season when bolting up at Haydock before being narrowly beaten at Royal Ascot.
He was slightly disappointing at Newmarket last time but still managed to finish third and has been freshened up since. He’ll have a cracking chance if he’s back in the same form as he was at Ascot.
Brunch took his record to three from five with a victory last time out and this horse – who is in my 15 to follow list – could still be improving.
