Winner: Ian Wright

The celebrities all enter as equals – in presentation, at least, if not in terms of their pay packet – but it doesn’t take long for the public to make their judgement.

All of the last five winners – Foggy, Vicky Pattison, Scarlett Mofatt, Toff and Harry Redknapp – were overwhelmingly popular early on. Remarkably, they all won the most votes to be saved in every single public vote-off in their respective series.

In addition to being big personalities, those five winners were also popular, inoffensive, and – crucially – prepared to get their hands dirty.

On that basis, ex-footballer turned TV nice guy Ian Wright justifies his status as favourite.

At least one contestant in their 20s has finished in the top three in the last five series, while young, male popstars Jake Quickenden and George Shelley finished second in 2014 and 2015, so Rak-Su’s Myles Stephenson is worth a shout at .

Caitlyn Jenner is arguably the biggest name of the 11 celebrities entering the jungle, but, like with Noel Edmonds last year, reports of the mega-bucks she is earning (£500,000) could put voters off.

First elimination: Adele Roberts

The last five celebrities to be eliminated first are, naturally, the opposite of the those who go on to win.

Jimmy Bullard, Susannah Constantine, Danny Baker, Shappi Khorsandi and Noel Edmonds were all either controversial or too reserved.

It only takes parachute landing into the Outback for the first batch of campmates to endear themselves to the public, which may explain why Edmonds and Baker – who entered a few days late – were voted off early.

That may be bad news for Andrew Whyment , who isn’t going in at first, though he is a different profile to those two.

Notably, the last four campmates to be voted off first were over 40. Constantine and Baker were in their 50s, while Edmonds was 69.

Expect that cruel stance to continue this year, leaving 40-year-old Adele Roberts vulnerable.

First public-voted Bushtucker trial: Caitlyn Jenner

The first trial of the series is the easiest to predict.

In each of the past four years, a female campmate has been immediately chosen to face their fears.

Two of those went on to be named Queen of the Jungle: Scarlett Moffatt in 2016 and Georgia Toffolo in 2017. Another, Emily Atack last year, went on to finish second.

Let’s stick to the formula, then. We’re looking for a woman with a big profile who the public would want to see out of their comfort zone.

Caitlyn Jenner is the clear choice.

The Keeping up with the Kardashians star’s pampered lifestyle – along with her paycheque – makes her an obvious target.

Consider this our best bet.

Most public-voted Bushtucker trials: Myles Stephenson

Who will follow in the footsteps of Gillian McKeith and Helen Flanagan by being constantly tortured by the public?

Jenner is again among the favourites, but it’s worth remembering that she’s an Olympic gold medallist and sportspeople usually possess the drive to get these trials done with minimal fuss.

Nobody wants to see that. The public want a screamer.

Of this year’s bunch, Myles Stephenson looks a good shout.

The Rak Su singer’s cheeky persona should get him far in the competition, and he’s already said he plans to wind up his campmates, meaning the public could be keen to see him get a taste of his own medicine.

Amir Khan, Adam Thomas and Joey Essex have all been regular victims of the public vote over the past few years, and Stephenson fits that mould.

Jacqueline Jossa also looks a big price at .

The former Eastenders actress rattled through a list of phobias in her introductory VT, so there should be ample opportunity to drop her into terrifying situations.
