MLB picks from the Betway Insider

The Betway Insider provides MLB predictions for all the biggest games throughout the season.

As well as picking games throughout the regular season, our MLB picks continue into the postseason and the World Series.

All MLB picks provided by the Betway Insider are free.

What is the schedule for the 2021 MLB season?

The 2021 Major League Baseball season will begin on 1 April, slightly later than normal.

After the 2020 campaign saw teams play just 60 games in a shortened season, the MLB returns to a full 162-game calendar in 2021.

The regular season is slated to finish on 3 October, but the exact schedule for the playoffs is yet to be decided.

Should the World Series go to seven games, then Game 7 will take place no later than 3 November.

Interleague play will take place after being scrapped for the 2020 season.

What changes are in place for the 2021 regular season?

A couple of rule changes that were introduced for the shortened 2020 season will remain in place in 2021.

Firstly, back-to-back games - or doubleheaders - will consist of two seven-inning games, not the normal nine innings.

Secondly, any game that goes to extra innings will see a baserunner placed on second at the beginning of each half inning.

Both of these rules are designed to minimise time spent at ballparks.

Expanded rosters of 26 players will also return, with no limit to the number of pitchers on each roster. Rosters will then increase to 28 players in September.

Clubs may also bring a 'taxi squad' of up to five extra players on road trips, to provide cover in case of health protocols.

One rule that will not remain in place after debuting in 2020 is the universal designated hitter, with the MLB and MLBPA failing to reach an agreement to keep the rule in place. It is possible, however, that a deal is agreed before the start of the season.

Will all clubs be playing at their home ballparks?

Every team except the Toronto Blue Jays will start the season at their home ballpark.

Due to travel restrictions between Canada and the United States, the Jays will start their season playing at the TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida. This is their spring training home and home to the Dunedin Blue Jays - their Class A affiliate.

It is hoped that Toronto will play only their first two homestands at the TD Ballpark before returning to Rogers Centre for the remainder of the season.

What changes have been made for the 2021 MLB playoffs?

The 2020 MLB season featured an expanded postseason of 16 teams, but no agreement has been reached for this format to carry over into 2021.

Should no deal be agreed ahead of opening day, then the 2021 postseason will revert to the standard 10-team format.

Five teams from each league will qualify, with the playoffs beginning with a must-win Wild Card Game.

When are MLB picks published?

The Betway Insider produce MLB predictions on a weekly basis throughout the season.

What types of MLB predictions do Betway provide?

Our MLB betting experts at Betway Insider produce several different types of predictions across the season.

During the regular season, they will produce two moneyline four-folds per week - one in midweek and one for the weekend.

This consists of four moneyline bets, i.e. four teams they believe will win their game on that particular day. You are able to back each pick individually or combine them into a four-fold parlay.

As well as those predictions, our experts will also produce a #BetYourWay for some of the biggest games throughout the MLB season.

This consists of four or five game-specific tips that you are able to back individually or use as part of a multi-leg #BetYourWay.

Included in these are picks are moneyline bets, point spread bets, over/under bets, player props and a range of other markets.

When the postseason rolls round, our experts will continue to produce picks on a weekly basis, with predictions provided for each round of the playoffs.

And finally, for the World Series, we will produce picks and predictions for every game.

How do you bet on MLB?

If you are unsure of how betting odds work, read our handy guide which provides you with all the information you need to start betting.

When you’re ready to place a bet, your first option is to head to the Betway Insider website to read through our experts’ picks. Each article will have a link to the sportsbook, where you can then place your bet.

Otherwise you can head straight to the Betway sportsbook to place your bet.

The most popular market on the sportsbook for MLB betting is the moneyline, where you place a bet on the result of a game.

Another popular market is handicap, or spread betting, in which one team is handed an advantage to even the game up. For example, if one team is a heavy favourite they may be given a handicap of -1.5, meaning they must win the game by two runs or more for the bet to come in.

Aside from betting on the result of the game, you can also bet on how many runs you think will be scored. The sportsbook will display a total, for example 5.5, and you can bet on whether you believe there will be more or less than that number in a specific game.

You are also able to place bets on player performances, called player prop bets. These can include a player to score a run, a player to hit a home run or a player to hit a certain number of RBIs.

Other than these main markets, there are hundreds of other outcomes that you are able to bet on before an MLB game. Simply head to the Betway sportsbook to discover your options.
