Tampa Bay Rays to beat Baltimore Orioles

This looks like a great price for AL East leaders Tampa to beat last-placed Baltimore, which owns the worst record on the Junior Circuit at 38-69.

The Orioles are also the worst home team in the American League with just 17 wins in Baltimore this season.

The Rays, meanwhile, have racked up 30 road wins in 2021, and are coming off a win against Seattle on Wednesday.

Starting for Tampa is Ryan Yarborough, who has a winning record at 6-4 but needs to bring down his 4.58 ERA.

He will face off against Baltimore ace John Means, who is having an impressive season at 5-3 with a 2.84 ERA.

He did take the loss in his last start against Tampa, though, giving up five runs on seven hits over five innings on July 20.

Philadelphia Phillies to beat New York Mets

The Phillies are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now, with their five straight wins taking them within half a game of the Mets at the top of the NL East.

New York is going in the other direction, having dropped their last three series to Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Miami.

On the mound for Philadelphia will be new acquisition Kyle Gibson, who gets his second start since his move from the Texas Rangers.

The 33-year-old is having one of the best seasons of his career, and was named an All-Star for the first time in July.

He owns a 7-3 record through 20 starts with a 2.86 ERA, and earned the win in his first game for Philly against Pittsburgh on August 1, giving up just two runs over 6.1 innings.

He will face off against Marcus Stroman, who has faded to a 7-10 record after a 3-0 start to the season.

Stroman’s ERA remains low at 2.80, but he tends to give up a lot of hits and has earned just one win in his last nine starts, a run which included a loss against the Phillies on June 27.

Toronto Blue Jays to beat Boston Red Sox

Toronto is on the rise in the AL East, winning eight of its last 10 games to move within 2.5 games of a wild card spot.

A big part of the Blue Jays’ recent revival has been their return to Rogers Centre, where they have gone 6-1 since July 30.

They have a great chance to make more inroads at the top of the division in this four-game set against Boston, which has won just three of its last 10 to drop behind Tampa at the top.

Impressive rookie Alek Manoah gets his 10th start in the majors on Friday night, having gone 3-1 so far with a 2.47 ERA.

Manoah was lights out in his most recent start on July 31, giving up no runs on two hits over seven complete innings against the Royals.

He should get plenty of run support from an offense that has scored 35 runs in its seven games since returning to Toronto.

Starting for Boston is Nathan Eovaldi, who is having a solid season himself with a 9-6 record and 3.71 ERA.

The 31-year-old took the loss in his last start, and may struggle to get the support he will need from an offense that has batted in just 28 runs over its last 10.

Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Los Angeles Angels

The Dodgers fought back to tie their two-game set against the Houston Astros on Wednesday, and should take the first of this three-game home series against the Angels.

This will be a bullpen game for the Dodgers, starting with veteran David Price, who has pitched well during his emergency stint in the rotation.

The southpaw is 0-1 over his four starts but has given up an average of two runs per stint on the mound, and has conceded just two homers in that time.

He should get enough run support from a Dodgers offence which has scored 32 runs over its last five games.

Starting for the Angels will be fellow lefty Patrick Sandoval, who is developing into a quality major league pitcher.

Sandoval is 3-5 on the season with a 3.38 ERA, but has taken three losses in his last four starts, giving up 10 runs in that time.
