Miami Marlins to beat Atlanta Braves

The Marlins just took a four-game series against the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1, and look set to make a good start to this three-game set against the Braves.

Atlanta is coming off a 2-1 series defeat to the 32-54 Pittsburgh Pirates and is now 2-3 in its last five games.

On the mound for the Marlins will be Zach Thompson, who has made an incredibly impressive start to his MLB career. In just over a month in the majors, the right-hander has gone 2-2 with a 2.25 ERA, giving up just six earned runs in 24 total innings.

He takes on Charlie Morton, who boasts a strong 7-3 record but has a 3.91 ERA that pales in comparison to Thompson’s. Morton has had a good season but has allowed seven earned runs in 11.1 innings across his last two starts.

Oakland Athletics to beat Texas Rangers

The Rangers’ 34-53 record is the second-worst in the AL, and it’s hard to see them winning this first game of a three-game series against Oakland.

The A’s have cooled off lately but remain in second place in the AL West with a 50-39 record, and they’ve gone 23-17 on the road this season.

They should also have the pitching advantage here with Cole Irvin set to start. The lefty has gone 6-7 this season with a 3.56 ERA and has allowed just two earned runs across 15 total innings in his last two starts.

He faces Jordan Lyles, who has taken the win in his last two starts but still owns a 4.98 ERA and has gone 4-5 this season to date.

Milwaukee Brewers to beat Cincinnati Reds

Milwaukee won the first of seven consecutive games against Cincinnati 5-3 on Thursday and looks good value to win again on Friday.

The Brewers’ 53-36 record sees them seven games clear at the top of the NL Central, and they’ve now won 13 of their last 16 games.

The Reds are also on a strong run of six wins in eight games, but the Brewers’ 27-18 home record means they’re the team to back here.

Wade Miley starts for Cincinnati, and he’s had a good season so far, going 6-4 with a 3.06 ERA.

Milwaukee starter Eric Lauer is no slouch either, though. He’s 3-3 with a 4.11 ERA, but has earned the win in his last two starts, allowing six hits and only one earned run across 12.1 total innings.

Los Angeles Angels to beat Seattle Mariners

The Angels are on a run of six wins in seven games, having swept the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 before taking a three-game set against the Boston Red Sox 2-1.

The Mariners, meanwhile, are coming off a 2-1 series defeat to the New York Yankees. Seattle is 46-42 on the season but has now lost five of its last 10 games.

The Angels’ chances victory will be boosted by having Alex Cobb on the mound. The 33-year-old right-hander has gone 6-3 this season with five wins in his last seven starts, and he’s coming off a strong performance against the Orioles in which he allowed just four hits and one run in 7.2 innings.

The Mariners will turn to Marco Gonzales, who has struggled this season with a 1-5 record and 5.82 ERA. He lasted just 3.1 innings in his last start, giving up six earned runs on seven hits in a loss to the Rangers.
