Here are Jack Green's five bets to consider for the Week 2 clash between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.

Carolina Panthers (-6.5)

Home favourites went 10-3-1 against the spread on Thursday nights last season, so it’s worth backing the Panthers to take advantage of the short week and win by at least a touchdown.

Carolina have won three of their last four meetings with Tampa Bay – as well as five of the last six at home – and beat their divisional rivals by 14 points in this fixture last season.

Over 49.5 total points

Carolina scored 42 points when they last hosted Tampa Bay in November and could reach that mark again if the Buccaneers’ defence plays as poorly as they did in Week 1.

Tampa Bay struggled on both sides of the ball last week, but they scored 24 and 28 points in their two games against the Panthers last season and should score enough to help reach this total.

Christian McCaffrey over 74.5 rushing yards

McCaffrey gained over 200 yards against the Los Angeles Rams last week, with 128 of those coming on the ground, and he now takes on one of the worst rushing defences in the NFL.

The Buccaneers ranked inside the bottom 10 in the league in rushing yards allowed last season, and they allowed McCaffrey to pass the 75-yard mark in both of their games against Carolina.

Mike Evans under 84.5 receiving yards

The Panthers defended the pass surprisingly well against the Rams last week, allowing just 186 yards through the air on 39 attempts.

Evans gained just 28 receiving yards for the Bucs as quarterback Jameis Winston struggled, and he played poorly against Carolina last season, gaining just 64 yards across two games.

Chris Godwin over 4.5 receptions

If Evans struggles again, Godwin is clearly the player most likely to benefit.

The 23-year-old was targeted six times last week – the most of any Tampa Bay player – and he brought in five catches for 101 yards when these teams last met in Week 13 of last season.
