Here are Jack Green's four NFL tips to consider for Thursday's game between the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions.

Houston Texans to win 5/8

After a poor start to the season, the Texans have won two of their last three games, including a 27-20 victory over the New England Patriots last Sunday.

Houston faced a tough schedule in the first few weeks of the season but have improved as the competition has become easier and should beat the Lions on Thursday evening.

Detroit have lost three of their last four games – including a 20-0 defeat to the Carolina Panthers last week – and are dealing with injuries to several key offensive starters.

Over 51.5 points 10/11

These defences have struggled all season, both ranking inside the top seven in total yards allowed.

All four of Detroit’s home games have gone over this total, and they should be able to move the ball – despite their injuries – against the Texans’ league-worst rush defence.

Four of Houston’s five away games this season have gone over this total, with the only exception being a 10-7 defeat in Cleveland where scoring was extremely difficult in bad weather.

Duke Johnson over 52.5 rushing yards 17/20

Johnson has been the Texans’ clear no. 1 running back since David Johnson suffered a concussion in week 9, receiving at least 13 touches in each of the last three games.

He struggled against the Patriots last week, but Johnson should bounce back with a strong performance against a Lions defence that has allowed the third-most rushing yards of any team this season.

Marvin Jones over 54.5 receiving yards 17/20

Jones is the Lions’ top receiver with Kenny Golladay injured and he has averaged 61.8 yards per game over the past five weeks.

The 30-year-old fell just short of this total with 51 receiving yards against the Panthers last week, but he had a 51-yard touchdown negated by a penalty and should pass this mark on Thursday.
