After all four NFC North teams lost in Week 1, the second week of the NFL season ends with the Detroit Lions taking on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Despite getting embarrassed in their first game, the Packers are heavy favorites on Monday, and Aaron Rodgers should be motivated to beat the brakes off a bad team.
Here are four best NFL betting picks for the Lions vs. Packers.
Anytime touchdown: Davante Adams 4/7
Let’s start this out with an easy bet.
Davante Adams scored 18 touchdowns in 14 games last season. Being in a contract year, Adams’ goal clearly has to be at least 20 touchdowns. A slow start to the season last week means he needs to get to work on Monday night.
Adams has scored in three of his past four games against the Lions and seven of his past nine. Their top cornerback was just lost for the season, making this defense even worse.
Aaron Jones rushing + receiving yards: Over 87.5 17/20
The Packers’ offensive line got picked apart last week by the Saints without them even blitzing. It’s cause for concern, to put it lightly.
Green Bay knows they must inject some confidence into this inexperienced group, and a great way to do this is by running the football. The best way to do it is by running the football well, which they can do against the Lions.
Aaron Jones can break off big plays when not much is there, and the Lions showed last week that they don’t have much upfront. Look for a heavy workload for Jones, who should hit the over on rushing yardage alone.
Anytime touchdown: Aaron Jones 13/20
Along with him running the football well, Jones should be able to finish at least one drive in the end zone.
Yes, the Packers also have big A.J. Dillon in the backfield, but he surprisingly doesn’t run that much harder than Jones, who deceptively packs a punch.
He will get his share of red zone carries, but he may be able to break off a long touchdown regardless.
Jared Goff passing yards: Over 253.5 17/20
The Lions are projected to be losing by a lot, and it makes sense. We saw the same thing last week, as they were dominated by the 49ers. However, Jared Goff used garbage time to his advantage, and he finished with 338 passing yards.
The Packers’ top pass rusher has been ruled out, and they have a clear weakness in their secondary with Kevin King. Goff should be able to clear this prop, even if most of his damage is done in the fourth quarter.
