ATLANTA FALCONS (+3.5) vs Los Angeles Chargers 4/5
The Falcons have defied all expectations so far this season. They sit top of the NFC South with a 4-4 record, and have gone 6-2 against the spread to date.
Atlanta are 3-1 at home and can keep the good times rolling against the Chargers, who are coming off a bye following a humbling 37-23 home defeat to the Seattle Seahawks.
Los Angeles’ offense is banged up, with receiver Mike Williams out, fellow wideout Keenan Allen not practicing and star running back Austin Ekeler added to the injury report with an abdomen problem.
The Falcons, meanwhile, could see starting running back Cordarrelle Patterson return from injury after a month out. He’ll bolster an offense that ranks sixth in the NFL in points per game and fifth in rushing yards.
DETROIT LIONS (+3.5) vs Green Bay Packers 10/11
They might be 1-6 and bottom of the NFC, but the Lions have gone 3-0 against the spread in their last three games and again look worth backing here against the struggling Packers.
Green Bay are on a four-game losing streak, having lost 27-17 to the Buffalo Bills last week. They also lost to the New York Giants, New York Jets and Washington Commanders in consecutive games, despite being favoured by at least four points in all three.
They still have four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, but the Packers have shown very little reason to trust them as favourites this season, particularly on the road, where they’re 1-3.
They haven’t been able to stop the run all season, so expect the Lions to feed Jamaal Williams all day on the ground and at least keep the score within a field goal.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (+2.5) vs Arizona Cardinals 20/23
The Seahawks earned an impressive 27-13 win over the New York Giants last week, meaning they’ve now won three in a row, covering the spread on all three occasions.
Starting quarterback Geno Smith is having a great season, passing for over 1,900 yards and 13 touchdowns so far with just three interceptions. He’s exceeded all expectations, and has led Seattle to the top of the competitive NFC West with a 5-3 record.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, are bottom of that division having gone 3-5 so far. They lost 19-9 to the Seahawks in Week 6 despite being five-point favourites, and they’re coming off a 34-26 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
Arizona have struggled to get going offensively this season and have also allowed the third-most points per game in the NFL. With Seattle’s offense looking tough to stop, it’s worth taking the points here.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-2.5) vs Los Angeles Rams 5/6
These teams were expected to be competing at the top of the NFC this season, but they’re instead a combined 6-9 and both in dire need of a win.
The Buccaneers have lost three straight and have struggled to move the ball, but should have receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones all available for this game, which will provide a boost for Tom Brady and the offense.
The Rams have had similar issues offensively, and now have star wide receiver Cooper Kupp nursing an ankle injury. Kupp has essentially been the Rams’ entire offense this season, and if he’s limited at all on Sunday they could struggle badly. Even with Kupp, the Rams have averaged 14.3 points across their last four games.
Brady has been disappointing for Tampa Bay this season, but Matthew Stafford has looked even worse for the Rams. With an edge at quarterback and home field advantage on their side, it’s worth backing the Buccaneers to snap their losing streak here.
