Dallas Cowboys to beat Atlanta Falcons 5/11

The Cowboys are coming off a Week 1 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams, but hosting the Falcons presents a good opportunity to get back on track.

Atlanta had one of the NFL’s worst defences last season, and a 38-25 home defeat to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday – in which quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 322 passing yards and four touchdowns – suggests they haven’t improved on that side of the ball.

Both these teams have great offenses, but the Falcons seem incapable of stopping anyone, so Dallas’ superior defence should earn them the victory.

Green Bay Packers to beat Detroit Lions 20/57

The Packers were very impressive in Week 1, beating the Minnesota Vikings 43-34 thanks to a vintage performance from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers tore up Minnesota’s defence for 364 passing yards and four touchdowns, and now faces a Lions defence that just gave up three passing TDs to the Chicago Bears and much-maligned quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Detroit held a comfortable lead last Sunday but conceded 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to somehow lose 27-23, so there’s little chance of them getting the job done against a much better team this weekend.

Minnesota Vikings to beat Indianapolis Colts 6/4

The Vikings’ loss to the Packers was a disappointing start to the season, but there’s no shame in being beaten by one of the best ever quarterbacks in red-hot form.

Minnesota look great value to bounce back against the Colts, who lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars – widely tipped to be the worst team in the league before the season started – last Sunday.

The Vikings struggled against the pass in Week 1 but 38-year-old Colts quarterback Philip Rivers doesn’t appear to have the arm strength to hurt them deep at this stage of his career, so Minnesota should be able to contain the Indianapolis offense on the way to a win.

Los Angeles Rams to beat Philadelphia Eagles 10/11

The Rams ground out a 20-17 win over the Cowboys on Monday night thanks to an excellent defensive performance that limited one of the NFL’s best offenses to just two touchdowns.

Los Angeles now face an Eagles team that lost 27-17 to Washington, who went 3-13 last season and weren’t expected to be much better this time around.

Washington’s pass rush dominated the Eagles’ offensive line, so the Rams’ defence – which includes All-Pro lineman Aaron Donald – should have a field day on Sunday.
