What is the schedule for the 2020-21 NHL season?
The 2020-21 NHL season has been delayed four months, with the campaign set to begin on 13 January.
Instead of the usual 82-game season, the 2020-21 campaign will see each team play just 56 times.
The provisional date for the end of the season is 8 May, with the post-season set to begin on 11 May.
The NHL hope to have the Stanley Cup Finals concluded by 9 July at the very latest.
What other changes are in place for the 2020-21 regular season?Due to travel restrictions, the NHL has had to realign divisions for the upcoming season. There will be no inter-divisional play, with teams only facing the other six teams within their new divisions.
There will be a North Division, made up of the seven Canada-based franchises: Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Winnipeg Jets.
The three US-based divisions have also been realigned and renamed, with an East, Central and West group.
The East Division includes Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Central Division includes Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals.
The West Division includes Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, St Louis Blues, and Vegas Golden Knights.
What changes have been made for the 2020-21 Stanley Cup playoffs?Instead of the normal wild-card format, this season will see the top four teams from each division qualify for the post-season.
The top seed in each division will play the fourth seed, with the second playing the third.
The winners of each will face off in the next round, before the final four teams are re-seeded and will play for a place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Who are the Betway Insider experts?
Our experts each have several years’ experience in the betting industry, and have a strong track record of producing profit.
When are NHL picks published?
The Betway Insider produce NHL predictions twice a week throughout the season.
We publish a midweek four-fold on Wednesday, and a weekend four-fold on Saturday.
We also produce game-specific predictions for some of the biggest matchups throughout the season.
What types of NHL predictions do Betway provide?
Our NHL betting experts at Betway Insider produce several different types of predictions across the season.
During the regular season, they will produce two four-folds per week - one in midweek and one for the weekend.
This consists of four win/draw/win bets, i.e. four teams they believe will win their game on that particular day. You are able to back each pick individually or combine them into a four-fold wager.
As well as those predictions, our experts will also produce a #BetYourWay for some of the biggest games throughout the NHL season.
This consists of four or five game-specific tips that you are able to back individually or use as part of a multi-leg #BetYourWay.
Included in these are picks are puck line bets, bets against the spread, over/under bets, player props and a range of other markets.
When the postseason rolls round, our experts will continue to produce picks on a weekly basis, with predictions provided for each round of the playoffs.
And finally, for the Stanley Cup Finals, we will produce picks and predictions for every game of the series.
We may also ask our traders to price up some novelty bets for the NHL playoffs.
How do you bet on NHL?
If you are unsure of how betting odds work, read our handy guide which provides you with all the information you need to start betting.
When you’re ready to place a bet, your first option is to head to the Betway Insider website to read through our experts’ picks. Each article will have a link to the sportsbook, where you can then place your bet.
Otherwise you can head straight to the Betway sportsbook to place your bet.
The most popular market on the sportsbook for NHL betting is the win/draw/win market, where you place a bet on the result of a game. You can also place a match winner bet, which includes overtime and any potential shootout should the game end in a draw.
Another popular market is handicap, or spread betting, in which one team is handed an advantage to even the game up. For example, if one team is a heavy favourite they may be given a handicap of -1.5, meaning they must win the game by two goals or more for the bet to come in.
Aside from betting on the result of the match, you can also bet on how many goals you think will be scored. The sportsbook will display a total, for example 4.5, and you can bet on whether you believe there will be more or less than that number in a specific game.
You are also able to place bets on player performances, called player prop bets. These can include a player to score a goal, a player to get an assist or a player to score the most points in the game.
Other than these main markets, there are hundreds of other outcomes that you are able to bet on before an NHL game. Simply head to the Betway sportsbook to discover your options.
