Leon Draisaitl and Kirill Kaprizov both to score 1+ goals 4.00
I’m back onto the pre-built bets because this one really jumped out to me. Draisaitl and the Oilers are playing the Columbus Blue Jackets, while Kaprizov and the Wild are playing the Buffalo Sabres. Draisaitl is the league’s leading goal scorer and Kaprizov has been on quite a tear of late. However, both have been off the score sheet for the last two games.
Good offensive players like Draisaitl and Kaprizov don’t get held down long. Also, neither player is going head-to-head against a strong opponent. That enhances my confidence in both finding the net in their respective games.
As the Oilers have been on a losing streak, Draisaitl's offense has dried up a little bit aside from a two-goal performance against the Boston Bruins. He has not gone without a goal in more than two games yet this season, so I like his chances.
Kaprizov, meanwhile, only has 10 goals this season, but has been finding the net a little more frequently of late. Additionally, over his last two games, he poured 11 shots on goal. I like his chances of putting more shots up in this one and having a bit more success against a weaker opponent.
Max Pacioretty to score 2+ points vs New Jersey 2.87
Since returning from injury in late November, Pacioretty has been unstoppable. He has points in every game he’s played since coming back and has two or more points in six of his last seven games. It’s nothing short of remarkable for a long-time veteran who has often been underappreciated for his scoring prowess.
With Vegas playing the New Jersey Devils, I like the Golden Knights’ chances of getting a win in the game and Pacioretty having some success. The veteran winger has had some good success against the Devils in his career with 21 points in 29 games including 14 goals. It’s a good scenario for his hot streak to continue.
Player to score most points (Huberdeau/Kaprizov/Stamkos/Stone): Stamkos 3.50
I’m going with Steven Stamkos in this one, ultimately picking him over Kaprizov, who I think will have a good game against the Buffalo Sabres. After the Lightning were embarrassed by the Senators on the road last week, I’d imagine we’re going to see Tampa’s captain look to send a message in this game.
Stamkos has historically done very well against the Sens, with 36 points in 43 career games against them. The Lightning captain is averaging over a point per game at home and typically sees a few more minutes per game on home ice.
Elias Pettersson to score anytime vs San Jose 3.20
With goals in each of his last two games, we’re starting to see Pettersson emerge again. There is no sugar coating it. He has been awful this season. With just 15 points and six goals in 30 games this season, it’s easy to wonder what has happened to him.
But now that Bruce Boudreau is behind the bench as the Canucks new head coach, the offensive players are standing a little taller. Pettersson is getting more ice time and he’s getting more good looks. With goals in each of his last two, I think the good times keep rolling and “The Alien” starts getting back to his otherworldly play.
