Johnny Gaudreau anytime goal scorer vs Dallas Stars

Gaudreau has made a brilliant case for himself in the Hart Trophy conversation as the league’s MVP. He may not win the award, but he is setting a new high water mark for his career. He’s two goals away from his first 40-goal season in the NHL and I think that’s a round number he’s going to be pushing for.

Gaudreau and the Flames will be going up against a Dallas Stars team that needs to win, so they’ll play Johnny Hockey tough. Even so, he seems to be finding a way a lot lately with four goals and seven points over his last three games.

Cole Caufield anytime goal scorer vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Habs rookie had found new life under head coach Martin St. Louis, but has fallen back to earth a bit with no points in any of his last five games. He had a goal and an assist the last time he played Philadelphia. With so many youngsters in the Flyers lineup, they’ve been especially leaky, too.

During this goalless drought, Caufield has had 14 shots on goal and is still generating chances. He's still finding his way as a pro, but goal scorers always go through stretches like the one Caufield is in right now. A weaker opponent might help him break out of it.

Aleksander Barkov to score 2+ points vs Detroit Red Wings

With seven points in three games over the Red Wings, I like Barkov’s chances of having a big game. He’s also coming off of a hat-trick performance against the New York Islanders. The Panthers captain simply continues to dominate. Over his last 20 games, he has been held off the score sheet in just three contests.

With the way Barkov has manhandled Detroit this year – with no fewer than two points in all three games, it sounds like Thursday might be a bad night to be the Red Wings.

Quinn Hughes to have 1+ assists vs Minnesota Wild

With assists in four straight games, Hughes has been an excellent distributor of late. The Canucks’ top defenseman has also been playing major minutes as the team desperately claws back into the playoff race. With eight points over his last four games, Hughes is in the midst of one of his best stretches of the season.

He also needs just one assist to become the Canucks all-time leader in single-season assists by a defenseman. Hughes is already up to 55 and surpassed his career-high in points as he now sits at 61 points in 71 games. He’s really come into his own this year.
