Auston Matthews and Alex Ovechkin to both score 1+ goal

If I see the Matthews and Ovechkin pre-built goal prop, I’m almost always going to play it. I like the value you can get betting on two of the league’s most talented scorers to pot one goal.

Matthews scored a hat-trick not even 24 hours ago against the same Devils he will play tonight. Additionally, in 10 career games against New Jersey, Matthews has scored a total of 11 goals.

Ovechkin has four points over two previous meetings against the Penguins this season, all assists. He has 36 goals in 67 career games against Pittsburgh. It’s been three games since Ovi’s last goal this season and there’s only been one instance this season where he had a goal drought last more than three games. That one lasted four. In a big rivalry matchup, I’d expect the Hart Trophy candidate to elevate.

Mitch Marner to score 2+ points vs New Jersey

Marner is currently riding a six-game point streak over which he has 12 points. The Leafs winger has two or more points in five of those games during the streak. Coming off of a three-point effort in Toronto’s comeback win over these same Devils, I like the chances of his streak continuing on the road.

Marner has 33 points in 32 games this season, overcoming an uneven start to his campaign and looking more and more like the dominant offensive performer we’ve come to expect him to be over his young career.

Filip Forsberg anytime goal scorer vs Vancouver

Forsberg has somewhat quietly had a very strong season, outpacing his production from a season ago and looking more like he did a few seasons back when he was a rising star in the game. Now playing with an elevated level of consistency, he’s put up 36 points in 32 games.

Forsberg has been especially strong on home ice where he’s collected 19 of his 36 points this season. He has also scored 13 goals in 16 home games so far this season and seven in 18 career games against Vancouver. With the Canucks playing the second of a back-to-back, I like Forsberg’s chances of hitting the score sheet and being a big factor in the game.

Cale Makar to score 2+ points vs Arizona

The Colorado Avalanche are playing the lowly Arizona Coyotes, which is why I wanted to get the defensemen involved. I haven’t picked enough defensemen to put up some points, but the way Makar is going, he seems like a good bet to find the scoresheet against a team that tends to just bleed goals.

As one of the fastest players in the league, Makar should be a major factor in this game. The Avs are also looking to replace the production of the injured Nathan MacKinnon and sometimes that has to come from the back end.

Makar is the top goal-scoring defenseman and is averaging 1.12 points per game. He has 12 multi-point games so far this season. In two previous meetings against Arizona, Makar had one assist in each game, but is riding a four-game point streak coming into this one. If you’re going to give a defenseman some love on a player prop, this is probably a game to consider doing it in.
