To think that we nearly had a full clean sweep in the Conference Finals in the NHL is pretty wild. The Florida Panthers continue to shock the world and swept the mighty Carolina Hurricanes, but the Dallas Stars have fought back into their series with the Vegas Golden Knights after team captain Jamie Benn took himself out for two games with a grotesque crosscheck to the neck of Mark Stone. Now that he’s back, can Dallas continue the push for the reverse sweep?

Dallas Stars to beat Vegas Golden Knights

Will the magic run out before they can pull off the reverse sweep? I’ve got no idea, but the Stars have actually been the better team in this series overall. At 5-vs-5, the Stars have controlled nearly 54 per cent of the expected goals, scoring chances, and high danger scoring chances, and over 54 per cent of the shots, while getting just 38 per cent of the goals.

Add in special teams, and the Stars have controlled over 58 per cent of the expected goals, and nearly 57 per cent of the high danger chances, while being outscored 13-11 by the Golden Knights. The Stars will need lady luck on their side to pull this off, but the Vegas Golden Knights needed that to get where we are right now as well, so who knows what could happen going forward, but I have to think Dallas has one more win left in them.

Jason Robertson to score anytime

For the first two rounds, the Jason Robertson of the regular season was on a bit of a hiatus. He was playing well enough, but the goals just weren’t happening. Fast forward to this series against Dallas, and Robertson has been extraordinary at finishing plays, tallying five goals in five games.

Robertson is on a huge heater in this series with five goals on just 19 shots, but believe it or not, his overall shooting percentage in the playoffs is still lower than his career average of 14.7 per cent, meaning he’s actually still been unlucky in these playoffs with seven goals scored and a point per game pace. Look for another one tonight.

Jonathan Marchessault to score 1+ points

On the other side of the ice, Marchessault has been incredible for the Golden Knights, after also being relatively unlucky until the last bit of the series against the Edmonton Oilers where he caught fire.

Marchessault has six points in five games in this series, all in the last four games. Marchessealt has been incredibly consistent with exactly three shots per game over the last four as well, so if you want a little bonus wager you can bet on under 3.5 shots on goal for him too.

Wyatt Johnston over 2.5 shots on goal

He has yet to find the net in this series, or even manage an assist, but Wyatt Johnston has been firing the puck consistently. He’s been under three shots in a game just once in his last six outings, and has 20 shots in this series, leading both teams.

The rookie may not have the name value of a lot of others in this series, but he gets into good areas and gets the puck on net, which is what you want. He trails only Jason Robertson and Jonathan Marchessault in scoring chances overall, and leads all players on both teams in high danger chances with 10.
