It seems like yesterday we were watching jubilant fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs dancing in the streets after captain John Tavares ended the Lightning’s bid for a fourth-straight finals appearance and won Toronto their first playoff series in 19 years. Fast forward just three games and the Leafs are on the brink of elimination with their top four players nowhere to be seen. Can they finally show up to keep the team alive?
Toronto Maple Leafs to beat Florida Panthers & over 5.5 goals 2.50
Over the last two games, the Panthers have been able to keep things tight and controlled with only 10 goals scored, but eventually the dam is going to burst behind Bobrovsky, he simply has not been this guy for a long time.
Through three games, Bobrovsky is stopping nearly 50 per cent of the expected goals the Leafs have put on him, and that’s just not sustainable, even over a small sample size. With everything on the line, the Leafs will bust the Panthers’ six-game winning streak tonight.
Auston Matthews & William Nylander both to score 1+ goals 4.50
We can’t overstate how rough this series has been for Toronto. The lack of finishing and defensive breakdowns in key moments have been horrible, but they’ve also been incredibly unlucky. Bobrovsky has had his best three-game stretch in years, and while the Leafs have piled on 11 expected goals in three games, they’ve only scored six.
Matthews and Nylander are both top-three on the Leafs in expected goals in this series, and neither have put one through Bobrovsky yet. With their backs against the wall, the Leafs’ best players have to leave it all on the table. These guys have to do their jobs.
Edmonton Oilers to beat Vegas Golden Knights & under 6.5 goals 3.15
There have been a lot of goals in this series, but swapping blowouts often leads to a more careful game on the other side of it. Both teams now face the need to keep things a bit more contained after the last two games.
After a disastrous first 40 minutes for Evan Bouchard and the rest of the Oilers’ top-four on defence last game, expect a much better effort in this one as Edmonton push to tie the series on home ice.
Leon Draisaitl to score anytime vs Vegas Golden Knights 1.80
The payout isn’t great on this one, but after a quiet night while the Oilers were run out of their own building in Game 3, the man who has taken the team on his shoulders through every bit of adversity in these playoffs is going to play some amazing hockey tonight.
Draisaitl continues to build his mythology as one of the greatest playoff performers in the history of hockey, and being held without a point for the first time this postseason has to have stung. Get ready for angry Leon.
