5. Ben Bishop | Dallas Stars

When healthy, Bishop is undoubtedly among the elite goalies in the NHL.

The American, nicknamed ‘Big Ben’ thanks to his enormous 6ft 7in frame, is a three-time Vezina Trophy finalist and has posted a Goals Against Average of 2.50 or better in each of the past four seasons, including an incredible 1.98 in 2018-19.

Bishop helped lead the Stars to the Stanley Cup Finals last season but unfortunately missed the majority of the playoffs through injury, and he will miss the start of this season as he recovers from knee surgery.

The 34-year-old should return in March to claim his starting place for the Stars and justify his spot on this list.

4. Carey Price | Montreal Canadiens

Price has suffered from being on a mediocre Canadiens team in recent years, but he still ranked highly in several of the major statistical categories in 2019-20.

The 33-year-old was second for saves, third for Goalie Point Shares and joint-fifth in both shutouts (4) and wins (27).

Price stepped his game up in the bubble, too, and was impressive even as the Canadiens were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

His numbers have started to slip slightly with age, but Price is still held in extremely high regard by players and coaches around the NHL and remains one of the league’s best goalies.

3. Tuukka Rask | Boston Bruins

Rask is coming off a great season for the Bruins.

The 33-year-old led the NHL in GAA (2.12) and Goals Saved Above Average, helping the Bruins to concede the fewest goals in the league in 2019-20.

Rask won the Vezina Trophy back in 2014 and is still going strong as one of the top goalies in the NHL – his 2.12 GAA was the best he’s posted since that season.

The Finn started the campaign with a 20-point home point streak and finished second in the Vezina Trophy voting.

2. Connor Hellebuyck | Winnipeg Jets

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is Hellebuyck, who made the most saves of any goalie in the NHL in 2019-20 (1656).

The Jets goaltender recorded six shutouts, the most in the league, despite facing more shots than anyone else, and also comfortably ranked first for Goalie Point Shares (12.5).

Hellebuyck also ranked second for wins and GSAA, and has established himself as the frontrunner to backstop the USA in the Olympics next year.

At 27, Hellebuyck has plenty of great years ahead of him and should be competing at the top of this list for a long time.

1. Andrei Vasilevskiy | Tampa Bay Lightning

Vasilevskiy played a pivotal part in Tampa Bay’s run to the 2020 Stanley Cup championship.

The Russian, who set an NHL record for the most minutes played by a goaltender in the postseason (1,708:12), recorded the first playoff shutout of his career as the Lightning clinched the cup in game 6 against the Dallas Stars.

Vasilevskiy won the Vezina Trophy in 2018-19 and followed that up with another fantastic season in 2019-20, leading the NHL in wins for the third consecutive campaign.

‘Big Cat’ posted a GAA of 2.56, a .917 save percentage and had a 21-game point streak between December and February.
