Here are five bets Guy Giles thinks you should consider for New Zealand v Ireland, which kicks off at 11:15 on Saturday.

Ireland (+12)

Joe Schmidt led Ireland to their first-ever win over New Zealand in 2016 and followed that up with another last year, but they will struggle to make it three on Saturday.

Their two losses to the All Blacks under Schmidt have both come by 12 points or less, so they should have enough to keep it within this margin.

New Zealand to win both halves

Ireland are likely to start fast – they scored tries within the first five minutes in three of their pool games – but New Zealand should dominate the majority of this quarter-final.

This bet has landed in all of the All Blacks’ last five matches.

Total tries: Over 4.5 

More tries have been scored at this stage of the World Cup than in both 2011 and 2015, with an average of nearly seven tries per match so far.

Ireland scored 18 tries in their four pool matches while New Zealand dotted down 21 times in just three, so this looks a safe bet on Saturday.

Anytime tryscorer: Anton Lienert-Brown

Lienert-Brown was a standout performer in New Zealand’s win over South Africa before scoring two tries in their demolition of Namibia.

The 24-year-old starts at inside centre on Saturday and will severely test opposite number Robbie Henshaw, who has only just returned from injury.  

Anytime tryscorer: Jacob Stockdale

Stockdale starts for Ireland on the left wing despite failing to score in three appearances at this World Cup.

The 23-year-old has 16 tries in 24 international starts, including a try in his only previous match against the All Blacks, so can put that right here.
