IRELAND v ENGLAND (SATURDAY, 16:45)

Ireland to win by 1-12 points

Ireland sealed the Grand Slam at Twickenham last year, and look solid favourites back in Dublin having improved even further since then.

The last seven matches between these two have been decided by 11 points or fewer, so it should still be close.

England to score under 1.5 tries

England have failed to score a single try in their last three Six Nations visits to Dublin, and just one on each of their four visits before that.

Even New Zealand failed to find a way through Andy Farrell's defensive system in the autumn, so it's hard to see England having much joy on Saturday.

Jacob Stockdale to score a try

Stockdale scored seven tries in five Six Nations matches last season, including one against England at Twickenham.

His score against the All Blacks in November means his record now stands at 12 in 14, so you may as well stick with the obvious pick for a tryscorer.

SCOTLAND v ITALY (SATURDAY, 14:15)

Scotland to win by 21-30 points

Italy have lost 17 straight matches in the Six Nations since beating Scotland at Murrayfield in 2015.

Their average losing margin away from home during the past two seasons is 25, with three of those five defeats falling within this bracket.

Italy to score over 1.5 tries

Despite winning a third consecutive wooden spoon, Conor O'Shea's side scored at least two tries in all five of their matches last season.

Scotland started slowly 12 months ago, conceding four tries to Wales, so it makes sense to back the away side to put a few points on the board.

Huw Jones to score a try

Italy were fragile in midfield last year, conceding six tries to centres.

Jones scored three times in two matches at Murrayfield last time around, so is your best bet here.

FRANCE v WALES (FRIDAY, 20:00)

Wales to win by 1-10 points

Wales have won nine games in a row, and should make it 10 against a French team that are fifth-favourites for the tournament.

Warren Gatland's side won this fixture by a single point last year, which was the ninth time in the last 11 meetings that these two have been separated by 10 points or fewer.

Under 38.5 total points

Those recent matches have tended to be low-scoring, with none of the last nine surpassing this mark.

That trend is unlikely to be broken on Friday, with both sides bound to be a little rusty for the tournament opener.

Liam Williams to score a try

Four of the six tries that France conceded in last year's Six Nations were scored by members of the back three, including one by Liam Williams after just four minutes.

Williams enjoyed a productive autumn with three tries in two starts, so is a more tempting option than either of the wingers.
