Figueiredo v Moreno odds

The co-main event of UFC 263 in Glendale is a rematch between flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.

These two went the distance in a thrilling majority draw back in December, with Moreno handed another chance at the belt following his gutsy performance.

That result snapped a five-fight win streak for the champ, who had run through the division with ease to win the belt against Joe Benavidez in July 2020.

Figueiredo had just 20 days’ notice for that first fight against Moreno, breaking the record for quickest successive title defences in UFC history.

He would actually have won, too, if not for a points deduction for a low blow, and he heads to Arizona as the clear favourite.

Moreno showed huge heart and skill in the first fight, taking some solid shots from one of the biggest punchers the division has ever seen while landing some himself.

He does come in at a shorter price than the first fight after that display, but is still a underdog here.

Figueiredo v Moreno prediction

Many expected Figueiredo to dispatch Moreno in their first meeting, with the champ coming off a run of four consecutive finishes.

‘Assassin Baby’ showed he has a granite chin, though, brushing off several shots that would have put away most at 125lb.

Avoiding defeat is one thing, but Moreno needs to find a way to beat the champ, and it’s hard to see how he can do that.

‘God of War’ is one of the most fearsome fighters the UFC has seen at flyweight and has breathed new life into a division that was on the verge of being cut.

Figueiredo’s size is his biggest weapon, particularly against Moreno, who holds just three knockout wins in his career.

Neither of these fighters has been knocked out, but if someone is to win in that fashion, it will be the champ.

The Brazilian is also world-class on the mat, holding a black belt in jiu-jitsu. A black belt himself, Moreno may find more joy on the ground, but this fight is likely to play out in a similar way to the first.

Another factor to consider here is that Figueiredo had just three weeks’ notice before the first meeting, whereas he will have a full camp here. For a fighter that really pushes the weight limit at 125lb, that will be crucial.

Quite simply, Figueiredo has multiple paths to victory, while it’s hard to see one for Moreno.

With the fight likely to take place on the feet, backing a KO finish for ‘God of War’ looks a good bet on Saturday.
