Reyes v Blachowicz odds:

The first of two title fights on Saturday night’s card is for the UFC light heavyweight championship, which became vacant in August when Jon Jones gave up the belt.

Fighting for the title for the second time is Dominick Reyes, the last man to take on Jones in the Octagon.

Reyes suffered the only defeat of his 13-fight career back in February when he challenged Jones at UFC 247.

The fight went all five rounds, and although 14 of the 21 media outlets covering the fight scored it for Reyes, the judges handed Jones a controversial unanimous decision.

Jones’ recent spat with UFC president Dana White, however, has created an opportunity for Reyes to have another crack at the now-vacant belt.

Standing in his way is Jan Blachowicz, who earned his shot at the title with a hugely impressive knockout win over Corey Anderson in February.

The Pole is one of the most experienced fighters in the light heavyweight decision, with 34 professional fights including 26 victories, but this is his first time challenging for the title.

Reyes is the favourite in the betting, while Blachowicz is currently to earn the victory.

Reyes v Blachowicz prediction:

Reyes showed in his narrow defeat to Jones that he has all the skills to be a UFC champion.

Fighting a seemingly invincible champion in his 15th title fight, Reyes stood up to Jones and dominated the fight with his kickboxing. He stuffed Jones’ takedowns and even rocked him a couple of times early on.

A repeat of that performance would surely see the American take the belt on Saturday night.

Blachowicz is a very good all-around fighter. He’s durable, a solid wrestler, and recent knockout wins over Luke Rockhold and Corey Anderson prove that he has genuine knockout power.

The 37-year-old is not a particularly crafty striker, though, and will struggle to use his ground game as the younger man has proven very difficult to take down.

Reyes should be able to use his dangerous kicks to keep Blachowicz at a distance, and although he faded late on against Jones, he’ll likely do enough in the first three rounds to secure the win.

Don’t expect an early finish, though, as both fighters have great chins. Blachowicz has been stopped just twice in his 34-fight career, while Reyes has never even been knocked down.

Blachowicz has lost five times by decision in his career and will likely suffer another defeat on points on Saturday.
